Water Metering

Adopted in 2013, the Comprehensive Regional Water Plan (Part 1, Part 2) outlines the plan for increasing water supply in combination with metering, to manage demand.

Water metering will help the SCRD and water users improve their leak detection abilities as well as better inform users of their water consumption. Water metering is widely recognised as an industry best practice. Many cities and regional districts across Canada have already made the move towards metering.

Meter Installation Schedule

A booklet containing installation information will be mailed to you prior to the installations starting in your area. An open house will also be held in each area except for Egmont & Earls Cove prior to installations starting. Earls Cove and Egmont already have meters in many cases and the project work there is to switch the meter heads from a touch-read meter to a radio-read meter.

Pender Harbour - Water meters were installed at all properties with water service connections in the areas of North and South Pender Harbour between August 11, 2014 and February 2015.

The remaining regional Electoral Areas of Halfmoon Bay, Egmont, Earls Cove, Roberts Creek, Elphinstone, and West Howe Sound (excluding Hopkins Landing) will be outfitted with water meters starting in September of 2016. This phase is expected to be completed in October of 2017. Installations will be done area by area in the order outlined above.

District of Sechelt will be the next phase of meter installations.
